Your provider will mark your chin and neck area and a topical anesthetic is applied to ensure comfort. You will receive multiple small injections under your chin into the fat layer below the skin. While the injections will only take a few minutes, you’ll remain in the treatment room for about 20-30 minutes to allow the active ingredient to take effect. The exact number of injections will depend on each individual profile and desired result. Clients will receive a cold compress post-treatment to minimize swelling.
The most common side effects of KYBELLA® are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness around the treatment area. Rare, more serious side effects may include trouble swallowing and nerve injury in the jaw that can cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness. Your cosmetic injector will discuss any potential risk during your consultation.
It takes time for the active ingredients in KYBELLA® to fully set in so results are gradual and often require multiple sessions. Clients may not see the full effects of the treatment for 6 months or more.
Your CosmeticsMD cosmetic injector will develop a specific treatment plan based on your chin profile. You may receive up to 6 treatment sessions, spaced at least 1 month apart, although many clients experience visible results in 2 to 4 KYBELLA® treatments.
When injected into fat under the chin, KYBELLA® causes the destruction of fat cells. Once the fat cells are gone, they are gone! After reaching your desired look, further treatment is not expected.
